R/C Air Show....just a couple of photos

Nice pictures Dave, love that F4d Skyray. I have one that I scratch built.

Wow, nice....I noticed that they kept it fueled right up until take off with an external tank. Is that a real jet engine they use or some sort of turbo fan?

I really think the one you missed partially showing the tail is a great shot.... the one that got away... those things really zoom by and are very hard to follow. I saw a video online yesterday showing a C-17 that they're calling the largest RC plane ever made, the video of it flying was pretty cool....just watching the monster get off the ground was amazing...

Hard to tell Dave.... jet engine, possible but not likely, turbo fan would be my guess since I can't see a prop/motor on the rear. Most of these use a pusher prop configuration. I don't know what the external tank might be unless it was a battery charger but charging a battery in the plane is very unorthodox. Do you have a picture of it on the ground?

They are fun to watch, and some of the model airplanes look so realistic. Thanks for sharing. Kelley (Texas) :)

Well it sounded and acted like a jet engine....couldn't see any prop but just didn't know how they do that with models. Seemed to have a real powerful thrust. Here it is just before takeoff.

They are fun to listen to and watch and pretty nerve wrenching to fly but the rewards are worth the risk at the end of a successful flight.

Yep, that's an external tank all right, and you are seeing Rob Baker's one of a kind turbine jet Sunray............ and you are right, it goes fast........ :)

It was powered by a 1/2A motor. In an attempt to get me interested in something besides horses, my parents bought me the kit, but I never built it, just not interested. I was focused on horses and could have cared less about anything else. When I became a teenager, I added pickup trucks to my list. Kelley (Texas) :)

When I was a kid they mostly had the fly by wire models where you just stood in one place and got dizzy as the plane flew around you. I built one from a kit but crashed it right away.
