Quiet = deeper

I've been lucky to spend the winter in Texas so I could keep hunting. With a new season starting remember the V3 doesn't G/B as fast as the MXT or DFX.

For smooth, quiet and deep operations before starting every hunt - do a Ground Balance. Ground Balance the V3 to

Excellent advice Rob,it's nice to have someone explain the small odd things,especially like the offset.
Thanks!

Just by habit from past years, I keep on checking ground balance. Don't matter if it's auto-trac or whatever, it's habit from all the manual detectors - just happens without thinking. And I want to to grab that GB knob that's not there:blink:
Always like those tips:smoke:

Also check to make sure you have the quietest frequency by using the frequency offset.
Tip: When you want to find the quietest frequency offset, expand the Live Control Bar, scroll over to Transmit Frequency-Offset, and pull the trigger to get into Pinpoint mode. Go through the offsets and look for the setting that gives the least pinpoint noise. Minimize the LCB when done.

You need to be sure you do this with the coil in the air and not on the ground, Good info/tips!

Hi Rob,

With my MXT, I found that the detector ran much smoother when working in a high trash area if I did a good Ground Balance and LOCKED the Ground Tracking. I also discovered that if I left the switch in Ground Tracking, the GB would drift a bit when working a high trash area. There was a slight GB drift in high aluminum trash and a much greater drift when most of the trash was iron and/or rusting steel.

I know that the V3 Ground Tracking is much different than an MXT. The ground tracking seems to be much slower on the V3 than the MXT. Will using Locktrac on the V3, after doing a proper Ground Balance, reduce operating noise when working in high trash areas? And, does the V3, in normal tracking, tend to have the GB drift when working high trash areas?

I've had my V3/Vision since last fall and am still baffled by it.

Thanks for the great help you give to all of us.

Bob
