Quick somebody call the Detector Cops on me.

I did not look at my notes on the F75 last night and posted some bum dope. I got a excuse though Officer, Honest. You see I been testing 3 detectors on this bad black sand beach. The MXT, Xterra 70, and the F75. Well I got my G/B adjustments wrong on the F75. The beach G/B was at 0 on the F75 so in order to get a little Pos. I moved the knob 3 to 4 clicks positive not numbers. The Exterra 70 you go up three numbers Pos. to get it to quieted down. Anyway sorry guys. The F75 you got to get the G/B right or you are not going to detect nothing on a black sand beach. I moved the G/B up 3 numbers from 0 today and could not even detect a quarter down 4"s. Nothing not even a peep. Went back to 0 went 3 clicks and got the quarter back. So in bad sand or for that matter any bad dirt you better get the G/B right. The black sand today was running from .3 to 3 and was all over the place. Had to hunt in All Metal the whole time as this beach is full of small flat broken Iron pieces and it causes the F75, MXT and the Exterra 70 to really false bad so I chose to get out of Dis. on the F75 and hut All Metal. Al metal worked great. the pieces of iron wound sound like BA-DA , or BAAA the good targets would give you a smooth ZIP-ZIP. I was digging targets to 10-11"s. Ran sen at 70 and 80,

Anyway ran all metal, sen 70-80, G/B to 0 plus 3 clicks pos. Threshold 0 plus 3 clicks Pos. this gave me just a small threshold so I could get the deep ZIP-ZIPS and could tell the small flat iron pieces. I could not tell the small iron pieces in Dis DE mode. I need to go back and run bc and see if that will help but don't think it will. You can forget jewelry mode here as it does the same as as DE. I was digging coins and pull-tab Zip-Zips down to 11 "s no ID. After I dug about 10 of the small Iron targets I did not dig another one. you just can't miss the iron tone in all metal after you dig a few of them. The iron has a audio of it's own as well as a large target such as a can. When I got one of those small smooth Zip-Zips and I was trying to tell the difference is a real small iron target I went to pinpoint and if it was a small flat piece of iron it would not pinpoint right it was like a broad target. The good target would always pinpoint no matter how small the target was. So I can say the Dis. on this black sand salt water beach is just not usable. However the good news is all metal Worked great and got some real Fisher CZ Depth. On the real deep targets the ID was off but the good targets did not jump around much like the bad targets would. The all metal at a sen of 70-to-80 worked all the way down to the water. It had just a little falsing at 0 threshold plus 3 clicks but nothing you can't get a long with. I could always run the threshold up to +1 and it would smooth it out some but made the threshold louder and the real deep stuff you had trouble hearing over the waves so I left it at 0+3 clicks and lived with the little bit of jumpy threshold I was getting that way the deep targets rise in Zip-Zip threshold were easy to hear. Had the pitch threshold to dead on 0 no clicks. I did manage to dig 32 coins, 4 pull-tabs and one tested 14 kt GOLD 8 tooth Grill. . Never dug one of them. It was what my kids call a Diamond cut Grill.. Son in Law said the pay up $200 for those Diamond cut Grills . Funniest Damn thing I ever dug other then the tins of Merry Widows . I will bring the Grill to Daytona this week when I help Ron out with his booth. Sorry about my previous Post on the G/B adjustment numbers vice clicks. Just trying to test too many detectors is such a short time frame. :D: :D: HH Jerry aka Tinfoil.

I think they are gonna sick the detector cops on me.......I'm digging too many deep holes on sites here that were labeled all "hunted out" :)

Glad to hear you are going to Daytona. Got some serious questions to ask you since I decided to get a f-75 after running EX-2's. All these positive posts got me wondering...but the manual has got me crazy

Did you try altering the # of tones to 3, 4 or delta tones so iron gives a low pitch as well? Or is that only in discrimination mode??

Which is good for us old guys that have the hearing loses. A nice feature indeed. I spent 20 years in the Navy on different types of Aircraft and 20 years with Grumman and Northrop Grumman as a Senior Aircraft Inspector. So 40 years in a noisy work environment takes a toll on your hearing :D: :D: Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

However the guys here are really helpful. With everything said I am a believer in reading the manual and reading everything on a new detector before I buy it. This time I actually got to test it before I decided to buy it. I have only gotten to test a couple of others before I made the decision to buy the machines. I am a old Fisher guy user, not as old as some that have been using them longer then I but, to me over 20 years using them ain't a short time for me. My 1265,1266, and CZ6 are long gone but my 6A is still around along with the 20,70,Excell,Edge and now soon to be F75. I think now, since the F75 came out. I will get rid of quite a few of my detectors. Anyway said enough, back to hunting, lurking and reading. If you or anyone can stop by and are going to be in Daytona stop and say Hello I would really enjoy that. I will be at Ron Dugger's Booth helping out. I will be the old gray headed fat guy. HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

You better get your arse on down there bud, Ronnie will be waiting on ya to help him get all of those detectors out of his Van and into the meeting room.
And ... I'll be counting on YOU to keep him out of trouble when he hits those Sushi bars
Ya'll have fun bud .. wish I could've made the trip.
Mike
