Quick Pinpoint Question: ACE 250

I've been reading up on the good pinpoint info here, and I have a quick question. I noticed that the Garrett website says to actually place the coil ON the ground, and keep it there during the process. The part of me that takes care of my toys protests against dragging the coil along the ground. Do those of you who have the PP process mastered actually keep the coil on the ground when you PP a target?

Mike

I have noticed on my 250 that if I place the coil on the fround over the target it will give me a better reading of what it is. A lot of times I hit a dime target, that will barely move on my, like it is sitting straight up and down instead of lying there flat, if I hold the coil still over top of it, ( on the ground) the reading will either stay put on the dime or jump over to the aluminum side, and if I dig and find aluminum, go figure, the machine tried to save me from bending over too much. And this works on all kinds of targets, if it moves a hair, just drop her to the ground and hold it still, works for me...

I rarely pinpoint on the ground, especially with sensitive coils like the 250 has, but the epoxy poured coil on the 250 will handle a lot of abuse.

Interesting point ace250semo. I have never put my coil on the ground while pinpointing. Might be worth a try. Thanks for the tip.
Mick Evans.
