Quick MXT Question

New member
When do most of you change out your old batteries. I know the manual suggest doing it when the display shows 8volts, but I'm wondering if anyone's field experience would suggest earlier?
Thanks,
BB

According to Whites the MXT runs at 7.6 volts, so changing the batteries a 8 volts is fine, changing them any sooner will not effect the MXT performance, but it will effect your pocket book.

Hi BB, I like to change my batteries when it reads 10 volts. It might be my imagination, but it seems like it's more "chatty" when the batteries are at a lower voltage. I don't throw them away, for Larry's DFX will finish them off. I have also used the rechargeable batteries and do like them, but they're a bit heavier. HH to all, Nancy

I agree with Nancy. I change mine at 10, also. Under 10 mine doesn't seem to work as well, and there is a definite difference in tone at 12 as opposed to 10 or less. Slight nuances of tone can mean the difference between a good target and another piece of trash.

Most machines are designed to drag power from the audio when the batts get low and not the depth/power output. But like someone already stated, you want the best audio you can get so when that starts to happen, change. By getting to know this from trial and error you will know when the voltage reading is heading that way just before it happens.

Thanks all - the last time I changed was when the machine booted up at 9. It's booting at 10 now, but drops to 9 after a bit of use so I think I'll make the change soon.
