Played hooky & hit the field with my dad for a full day hunt. Very slow start had nothing for the first 3 hours, But second 3 where pretty good. I hit the heart shaped charm to break the ice.(Jamestown Exposition Norfolk, VA. 1907)Then I found the US button that is in GREAT shape.1892 IH, 1920 Merc, & a junk Buff was the coin count. Many Thanks if any body can date the US button. Enjoy & Good Luck!

I'm at work & don't have my button book handy, but that's usually refered to as a "great coat" military button.....
Can't date it without my book, but I can say for sure it's from before the Civil War....I see alot surface at 1830's fort sites, so that should give ya a good idea.
HH,
Bill
