Quick intro

HalfDollarHound

New member
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum but not the hobby (since '72) although recently I have been doing it more.
Using the moniker "HalfDollarHound" since I seem to be drawn to them more than any other silver (24 halves total - oldest, 1876-CC Seated Liberty). I'm not in a "good" hunting area with most of the development here being within the past 50 years but I do manage to get to Los Angeles and other "older" areas fairly frequently.
What I'm finding strange is I've only found 4 Indian Head pennies over the years and none in the past 5 years... what's up with that? Seriously, I pulled an 1899-O Barber Half last week while curb strip hunting in LA but could they drop a penny also? Seems not.

Anyway, I'm located in the desert southwest with a focus on old coins

PS I've come to loathe "biodegradable" zinc pennies

Welcome aboard friend. Lots of great people and information here.

And about pennies. I found an Indian head yesterday and, it looks like it's in the late stages of decay.
