Jim,very nice finds,My deepest finds have been found with the 10inch Tornado coil. The old tree in the photo next to the barn looks like a great place to search. Thanks Ron

Thanks Ron that tree is a mass jungle of roots most targets are getting pushed back up it seems not really to deep , ill try that 10" today in wet bay sand on a few small Sound beaches at low tide no more then knee deep . Jim :detecting:

Looks like a killer place to hunt, and great job!

I remember an old detecting article about a guy who prefered to only hunt around large old trees in parks and such. He would dig out EVERY signal within a certain radius of the tree and made some amazing coin finds by unmasking them with the trash being dug, as well as some other great finds that didn't read in the coin range. If I remember right he graphed the quality of finds around the tree and found that the better finds were out a good distance from the base...Probably due to people sitting in the shade which doesn't have to be directly within 5 feet of the trunk or anything. Wish I could find that old article as it'd be a good one to post.

Nice group of finds. That looks like a old homestead. Find where the cloths line was and the path leading to it, I've had pretty good luck in that spot.
Good luck Gary

And the straight line from the house door to the out house is always a good place. If the out house is gone just look for a patch of grass that is greener than the rest as it's got all that good fertilizer to keep it green for years and years compared to the other grass. Some guys will take a long metal thin rod and probe the ground until they find a spot where the probe goes down easy, indicating where the out house was...And then dig it up looking for old bottles.

That '46 cent looks like it's been through the wringer-washer. I've been trying to map out my finds around big old trees lately, and there are some patterns starting to show. I don't have enough information to fully determine those patterns yet, and they are variable so far. Real nice finds though. And for a one hour hunt, you had a pretty nice find.
