Got my 5" excelerator coil on thursday. I only had a half hour to give it a try. I was able to use max gain, which I never could with the stock coil and found 2 quarters ,a dime , three penneies and best of all a buffalo nickle.
Coil ids and pinpoints great. The buffalo was at 5 iches and rang out good and loud.
I think I am going to like this little coil.

for very trashy sites, or those hampered with dense brush or building rubble.
Just remember that, as with any smaller coil, you're going to have your best performance if you don't sweep too quickly. It's great in hevay trash and I have been impressed with the depth of detection. While that's not usually a strong point with a smaller coil, it is one of the traits of the 5" EXcelerator that I am pleased with.
Hope you have continued success and 'fun.'

The 5" Excelerator is smaller in diameter, but it is round in shape like the 5.3 Eclipse. However, it is a widescan design, like the Mini Double-D, so it is sort of like them both in some ways.
I personally prefer round coils to elliptical shaped coils. One of my favorite coils to use on a Classic series model has been the 4" Snooper coil. This 4" concentric coil is great for working in and around all sorts of trash and/or physical obstacles.
White's didn't make a 4" for the MXT, but the 5" Excelerator serves a similar purpose, and even better, perhaps, due to the widescan (Double-D) design. I usually got target responses as good, if not better, than with the Mini D-D elliptical coil from White's when I evaluated a few coils last fall, so I parted with the Mini D-D.
The 5" Excelerator coil will stay on the end of my MXT for at least 50% of the time because I tend to hunt trashier sites, unless hunting an open grassy field or a plowed field.
