Quick draw 2

Eagleman

New member
Has anyone on the board had experience with changing the 8 inch coil to a 10 inch coil. I read that it makes the Quick Draw 2 a much better detector. Is there any facts to back up this statement? Thank you

I have a SSII with a 4, 8 and 10 inch coil. I don't necessarily think it makes it a better detector, it just gives more versatility. In real trashy areas, the 4 inch works great. For large open areas such as freshly plowed fields I prefer the 10 inch. In wooded areas that are not real cluttered, I like the 8 inch. So I get the advantage of all three.

Thank you Rivermarine1,for the info,by the way if I read the Rivermarine name ,I am a ex brown water sailor, Thanks again

I also have the SSII w/ 4, 8, & 10" coils. I used to hunt the 8 most of the time but then my 8" took a #$%& so I switched to the 10 and rigged up the 4 as a hand-held "inline probe." This was a great way to make an already heavy machine even heavier but this teaches you what a vacuum the 10" really is and with enough practice learn to pinpoint and easily work your way through trashy areas. I've since replaced my 8" but now I still prefer the 10 most of the time. Mix a pvc 4" end-cap, a few hoseclamps, some black elastic, electrical tape, and a little boredom, you get this. TC & HH, JJ

Very Ingenious idea you had there...Now all someone needs to do is to create a 6.6Khz probe that looks like the SUN-RAY and your all set....

I just Bought a old Bounty Hunter TR 550. The seller said that he got it at a estate sale and it had two broken AA battery holders that he had thrown away. He says he thinks that one was a six and one was a eight, but was not for sure. Can any body shed any light on this? If one was a six, how can a person tell which plug to use? Bill In Texas
