Quick Charge GT battery ?

Buried Crap NJ

New member
I bought and am using the MC 20o2 Quick charger from GWS for my Minelab Excalibur with out any worries. I saw the post long time ago and made the switch. I just went to use in on the GT battery and it only will trickle though the charging port (pin)? Question is does it have some sort of blocking to prevent quick charging? They battery level is 12.54 vdc surly not charged! Can I charge though the out put tabs? steve

mine does the same thing.works great on the Excal but not the GT...as soon as you plug it in it goes to trickle charge on the GT.

I use a Sun Ray cradle to charge mine with a SR 12 charger which both items are not being made anymore. With the cradle, or some call the charging station charges the battery from the output tabs, so you can charge it that way, but make sure you get the right polarity. Also I don't think I would use a charger that charges over 400 miliamps or over 13 volts output.

What setting R U using to charge the excal

Does MC 20o2 Quick charger from GWS comes with proper plug in [socket] to connect Excalibur battery? How long it takes to recharge Excalibur? Any specific place where I can buy it? Thank you for any information, GregO.

I just cut the wires off the wall warts, so yes I am using the original plugs. How long does it take to charge is up to you! You can chose how many milliamps you want to chose to charge at. Heat is what destroys batteries/cells. The wall wart charges the battery till it get hot and then a thermistor stops the charge.(14-16hrs) This is a very cheap way of charging! This allows a build up much heat on the battery on a regular basics. Using a quick charger. If your battery is 1000ma and you charge it at 1000ma it would take around 1 hr if you want it in 1/2 hr charge it at 2000ma. in any charging you should always provide a well ventilated area so air flow is passes around the battery. This cuts down the heat. When charging the Excaliburs 1000ma battery for 1hr I find there's a lot less heat generated in 1 hr then the 14-16 hr charge. Most of the time I charge at 500ma and there's no heat generated!
