Quick beach tips

Going to SPI beach tomorrow. !st time. Need some quick tips to help me find the Dubloons. Really a new MXT owner. HELP !! Have the stock coil & a Eclipse DD coil.

I would use your dd coil, coin and jewelry mode, trac set to salt and slight threshold hum. On wet set you may need to turn down your gain if your mxt gets chattery, I generally hunt with a gain of 7 here in New England, but ground can change very quickly. One other trick I do if I get chatter is to stop and pump the coil up and down until it quiets down, if it does not quiet down you need to reduce the gain. Most times less gain is better, don't try to run in the plus numbers unless your machine stays quiet.

Good Luck, I hope I was of some help.

Not sure how minieralized the beach will be. If it's not too bad I'd ground balance in salt mode then lock it. I'd also run in relic mode but that is just me. I just love the relic mode much more than coin and Jewelry. I think it will pick up tagets that you won't hear in the C&J mode. If the machine gets chatty, you may want to take it off lock and ground balance again etc.

Good luck and keep us posted! HH, Nancy

A lot of good ideas, but the one thing you REALLY want to do on the beach is dig everything that is not iron. Platinum, chains, small gold rings and jewelry can ID in the teens or lower.

I know I didn't post the question but that's all valuable advice that I'm going to use with my MXT immediately. What ? Rain for a week here ? NOOOO !?!

A couple of people while back suggested putting a small magnet at the bottom of the scoop. It helps keep small things there. Also, a small brush-like object at the bottom that can easily catch necklaces and such.
