So its memorial day weekend. I got tomorrow all day to hunt. Not sure if its worth going. I live in new england. So. At this point I am assuming I would be looking for fresh drops, as every detectorist in NE has probably hunted out any ponds.

I was eyeballing a large swimhole near a city though. Might not be hunted out, might be to big to be hunted out. Is it worth going to anyway? Its 50 minute drive from here. There are other ponds that I could hit if I wanted to.

I could also go to the beach.

Problem with the beach situation is well...parking...they charge an arm and a leg unfortunately. Just lookin for thoughts on the memorial day weekend hunt.

Monday...I will probably go again.

I think its gonna be weather specific...But, hitting some schoolyards, totlots, soccerfields Sat am to get your "fix" and making sure the gear is squared away, scout a little for Monday morning, campgounds will be clearing out in mid day, so the afternoon might be good too..I'll be looking for fresh sign on the beach every morning depending on the weather the night before! (nighttime beach parties are the best) It'll be run and gun style hunting! This will be the kind of weekend where a guy has to keep eyes open for paper money drops too...head on a swivel, baby!

CT. state beaches are off limits during prime time, before 8 am or after 6pm it is permissiable. Town and city beaches are completely off limits unless you want to drop $100+ for a season's pass or $20+ just to get in for the day.

CT is quite a hike for me. I am in mass. I think I am stuck hunting monday and tuesday mornings...and maybe even sunday night. I am still gonna go tomorrow. But I hate going in crowds...and tomorrow probably going to be crowdy no matter where you are. Low tides are in early afternoon near me. So I think Ima split my day in two...early am being a fresh water hunt and early afternoon being a beach. Anyway...GL and HH bobbie and mud. -Joe

Just a thought here in New York: Wait! You go to the Beach - or Pond, Monday evening, or low tide Tuesday - After the crowds have come, lost their stuff, and gone. Just chill someplace near your home. Try and think of a place that you can hit easily, then hit the BIG target areas when there is something to find there. I am BRAND NEW to beach and water hunting, so I could be completely wrong, but it just kinda adds up to me - T

Nah...im with ya. I might do a sat night hunt at a local pond. And a monday or tuesday hunt at a bigger pond. Tomorrow afternoon I might fit in an afternoon hunt at low tide at a beach. May call it off I don't know. Anyway. I am itching to go an hunt hunt hunt. I gotta chill out an realize the whole summer lies ahead of me. Anyway. HH -Joe
