Questions on moving/storing programs

I was downloading adding some of the user programs from the resource center to my Xchange, and went to load them on my ctx. It says I can it can only hold or store 10 at a time. My question is, Am I able to store all the programs I want on the Xchange, the swap whatever programs I want onto my ctx..or do I have to delete the ones I'm swapping out? From what I saw on Gone Huntings video on this. I need to get rid of the programs on the Xchange before downloading new ones or it will overwrite them. Was I interpreting this right or not?

You can store all the files you want in the XChange2 app. You can create a collection for MODES, or whatever you want to call it, and keep them all together in the app.. You can copy, all 10 or some, of the modes that are in the CTX and then put them into a Collection in the XChange2 app. Once saved in the XChange2 app, you can then go back to the CTX and highlight the ones you want out of the CTX and drop them into the Recycle bin. Then highlight one, or a group of modes, from your XChange2 app and drag and drop them into the CTX. If you have a particular order that you want the programs in, in the CTX, they go into the CTX as a stack and are are added from top to bottom (M1-10). For example: Lets say you have 8 modes in the CTX, if you add another mode it will become M9. However, if you remove the third mode down (M3) from the CTX menu, that leaves that slot open in addition to slot M9 and M10. Then when you put another Mode in the CTX, it will fill the empty M3 slot before filling the M9 slot at the bottom of the stack. (Note: If you are just rearranging the modes in the CTX, you will need to know the name and what order they are in, in the CTX. When viewing the CTX contents in the XChange2 app, the order of the modes is not as they actually are when viewing the CTX screen itself.)

OK..thank you!..so let me just clarify this..I can create another folder for my collection on Xchange or drag and drop my extras into the trash bin and it won't delete them automatically and I can pull them out if and when needed?

Don't put them into the trash bin unless you want them gone completely from the CTX and XChange2. When you highlight and drag from the CTX and drop into a Collection, you have copied and put the copy into a collection. Then to remove the item from the CTX highlight and drop into the Recycle icon. A warning box will come up and ask if you are sure that you want to remove the item permanently. I just created some things and moved them around to determine what would happen. I usually double check to be sure that I've saved my items in a collection before dropping them into the Recycle bin. I have inadvertently lost things in the Recycle that I thought I had in a collection, but didn't, that's why I double check......

Ok,,I copied them into my samples, so now I can move them from my file folder into the the recycle to empty the file folder and start new..

If you have items in a Collection and put them in another Collection or Recycle bin, when you do that they moved. They are only in one place not both.

Items are copied between Collections and the CTX or FILE. They can be in both places at the same time.

I have a Collection called Holding Box. I copied some modes into that box. I then took a "Trashy" mode from the Holding Box and moved it to the Recycle bin. A message came up in the lower right hand area of my screen, telling me: 1 Item moved to Recycle bin. I then checked the recycle bin and it was there. I checked my holding Box and it was gone from there, so it had been moved not just copied. I can move that item from the Recycle bin and place it back in a Collection or where ever I desire. However, if you empty the recycle bin with things in it, whatever is in it is G O N E.

If you move an item directly from the CTX to the Recycle bin, it is gone once you OK the warning about permanently removing the file.

I checked my file folder and my sample folder.. they are in both after dragging dropping from file to sample. There is a little red box in each mode that says copied..so I assumed they would ok.

If the file folder you are talking about is the FILE icon above recycle, yes, the same mode, etc. can be in File and also in a Collection at the same time.

Yes there is a limit.

You would really benefit yourself if you pick one program and really learn it well. Gone huntings program is an EXCELLENT one to master!

I have his original combined downloaded Bart... and a few other ones people say are great too..
