just got a whites xlt! love it. now what does everyone do to keep the battery compartment from getting wet, muddy etc. seems it sits low to ground and could get moisture in it. it does have the little rubber feet but they are only about an inch tall. just need some ideas on keep my machine from getting ruined. like mud on the screen? anyone use cover or just wipe off? as for everything else i think im going to use it for about 50 to 100 hours before trying to make custom programs.been doing a ton of reading on it. it came with a 4x6 blue max shooter coil but didnt like it, didnt respond well to smaller items on air tests. and alot of guy said they preferred the 5.3 bullseye on the xlt. i like concentric coils best here in ohio.so i sold the DD coil and watching 2 5.3 coils on ebay.thanks alot for any help!

You can get both a cover for the box and also an attachment that goes on the frame that will hold it up off the ground more when you lay it down. Someone on ebay has one of those that I like alot. It attaches easily , it's light and is just a few inches high.

Go to whites site wait link http://whiteselectronics.com/products/accessories/miscellaneous.html scroll to xlt Detector Stand for DFX

In my opinion the you did the right thing by selling the small DD coil. The 5.3 is a great coil for the XLT, maybe the best all around coil Whites has made. Whites has a box and screen cover available and they work great. They also make a stand that mounts to the box and holds it up a couple inches off the ground. I like mine a little higher so I made my own.

alot of great suggestions! think i will buy a stand from whites and a cover..any other great ideas you have for these machines?

Whites sells a micro thin cover that protects if you scratch yours..Inexpensive and easy to take and put on...Simply pry off the old one from the edges and put another on, after you seal it down well...has another lightweight cover to protect while applying to peal off and your good to go...always keep an extra handy...Many newbys or possibly some olbies think if you scratch the screen you need another screen module but not the case...Unique in design and wish othe major manufacturers would have a like system as most are expensive to replace if their screen is scratched..As far as keeping box off ground several black short variations..Tall White one is off market type and certainly might alter someones swing but whatever works.

well i ordered a stand from whites,2 tall man lower rods and coil bolts and the ring enhancement book to give me something to read while its cold.it came with the book xlt field methods & custom programs by clive clynick and its a great read! i readowners manual once and will again several more times before warm weather. lol cant wait til enough snow melts to use it. any other good info that anyone can share about this machine would be great! thanks alot
