Questions: Cibola similiar to Silver Sabre uMax.................

How is the performance of the Cibola when compared to the Silver Sabre uMax metal detector? Except for the frequency shift control, they appear to be similiar...freguency slightly higher in the Cibola and the ED180 discriminator in the Cibola compared to the ED120 discriminator in the Silver Sabre uMax. Is there much, if any difference in depth of detection? I ask these questions because about a year or so ago, I purchased a new, in the box Silver Sabre uMax and have never used it. Is it now considered to be obsolete? Kelley (Texas)

The Silver Sabre will never be obsolete Kel. One of the best machines to ever come out of Tesoro.

How is the performance of the Cibola when compared to the Silver Sabre uMax metal detector?
The Cibola is hotter on low conductive targets like nickels and gold rings. On silver and copper coins they are about the same in depth in my ground.
So if you are after silver coins you don't need a new detector.
I ask these questions because about a year or so ago, I purchased a new, in the box Silver Sabre uMax and have never used it.
Why do you buy one of the best detectors ever made and don't use it? If it is new in box-never used i buy it for the right price.Email me.
Is it now considered to be obsolete?
No,sure not ! It still detects better than some of the newer high dollar detectors.
Now get it out of the box and try it, you will have fun.

I have been using a Tesoro Bandido II uMax for several years, bought it from Al before he stopped selling metal detectors. I use a metal detector for hunting for relics at old camp sites, old ranch house sites, and water crossing sites on the ranches down here in my area.
I bought the Silver Sabre uMax for the sole intentions of possibly hunting for coins at parks or schools. I wanted a simple, easy to use metal detector for just this purpose, thus I bought the Silver Sabre uMax...just never got around to using it. After I saw that Tesoro had released a new model, the Cibola, and many people were saying good things about it, I started wondering if it would be better than my Silver Sabre uMax. That is the reason that I posted the question. I really have no desire to sell the metal detector.
Like many people, when a new detector hits the market, you naturally wonder if your old detector model is obsolete. After I posted the question, I started asking some questions from a few people that I know and they assured me that not much would be gained by buying the Cibola, told me about the same thing that you have told me...depth of detection about the same for both detectors. I will have to use less discrimination and do more digging of targets to find gold items when compared to the Cibola.
Again, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas)
