Questions about the SE

Should a person let the coil slide over the ground or keep the coil about 1" above the ground?

Should a person noise cancel with the coil at knee level or should you lay the coil on the ground?

Thanks ahead of time.

I have seen these two methods done in the field is the reason I ask.

I just swing the coil so that it just grazes the top of the grass so it swing smooth and not jerky. Some I see will scrub the ground more with it and see where they just wear out the coil or coil covers more. I have found that when I get one of the real iffy signals that is on the edge of detection than I can scrub the ground more to get a better signal. I also find with scrubbing the coil more to the ground you get more falsing it seems.
On the noise cancel the owners manual say around 12 inches high when noise canceling, that is the way I have been doing it with all the Explorers I have used. With it on the ground I feel it has more chance of moving a signaling on a target so you don't get a accurate noise cancel. In the air it can't see a target as easy I feel and get a more accurate noise cancel.

Gee I know Rick is a super Minelab user but have to add my opinion...
I was told by Minelab to let the coil lay motionless on the ground when noise cancelling and believe thats the way its explained in the Explorer 11 video.....From using both the Explorer and Sov's I know they hate air so try to keep my coil moving slowly just gliding over the ground..scrubbing is not recommended but keep close to ground...
Perhaps sort of painting the ground is more like it...

Question was about an SE and I have a 11 so perhaps Minelab has changed its tactics or perhaps the SE is a different animal at least for noise cancel....
