QUESTIONS ABOUT sTINGRAY II

Just bought a Stingray II from Ebay. Haven't gotten it yet but looks to be in very good shape. I live in Illinois but vacation quite often to the east coast. Last few years have gotten into beach detecting. Not planning to dive and detect but wanting something to search both wet and dry sand and also wade a little out into the surf. Just the coil will be in the water. Will the Stingray II do the job for me? Also, will I be able to use it on dry land if I chose to? I also have a Vaquero that I like very well. Any help and input will be appreciated. Keep diggin!

it will work ok on land and dry sand.it will loose some depth in wet salt sand and in the Ocean.i think you will have to turn down the sensativity to get it to not false in wet salt sand.my Tiger Shark works that way at least.the only VLF's iv seen work well in salt water is my Sovereign's , Excal's and CZ20/21

I have stingray 2. Bad choice for wet salt sand and water.You should have asked befour you buy.The stingray is great
every place else. The 10 1/2 " coil works best for me. For the wet salt I use the CZ 7. No problems. great depth, but heavy. Stingray good for gold, never set dics. higher than 3. Thats where white gold and plat.are! Have fun.
