Questions about preserving Iron relics.....

I have some iron relics, axes, horse shoes, RR spikes, ect. And wondered how you guys preserve them?
A few I wire wheeled but what next? They'll just re rust. Is there a clear spray or something else I can do?
Help

warm them in the oven then rub bees wax on them. Others spray paint them
