Questions About - Noise Cancel & Target ID Numbers

E-Trac-Ohio

Well-known member
I know there was a post on this subject in this forum a month or two ago ... but I couldn't find it.

I had a few questions ...

I've noticed that sometimes target ID numbers will vary - example - clad dimes almost always - ( at least 95% of the time for me ) - come in as FE 12 - CO 44's.
The other day I dug two clad dimes that came in as solid FE 12 - CO 46/47's - this is rare.
I hunt in Auto + 3 and I always Noise Cancel before I start a hunt.

Here's the questions ... Are the target ID numbers on common targets going up or down because the machine is auto selecting a different set of channels to hunt on ?
If the answer is yes - do many of you just manually set your machine on one set of channels and leave it on that setting all the time so the target ID's stay the same ?
Will changing coils have any effect on target ID numbers - example - would a 6" coil and 10x 12 coil swung over the same target with the same machine give you the exact same target ID's ?
And, didn't a few people say in the other post that they hit deeper on the lower numbers channels - and that the lower the channel number - the higher the frequency ?

Thanks in advance for your replies !

I havent posted on here for a long time seen your question so here it goes ,I also live in ohio 35 miles south of the Big
Pond ,Ne Ohio,I was out the other day and had clad dimes bouncing in like quarters and copper pennies like dimes,I just think its because the ground is so wet,The dimes were about 4 inch or more and really rusty that throws off the conductive numbers a little bit,(I think) .I also would like to some more comments on this ,Thanks,Mike

when it is REALLY wet, dimes and pennies will come up as high as 46 for me, I haven't noticed any different channels affecting this

In the old TR detecting world it was called the HALO effect. Also when far away radio signals come in good it will be a good day to go metal detecting.

Yeah what he said, when the "skip" is running, stuff comes in good.......nge
