Questions about multi IQ

Does the 800 use all the frequencies in multi frequency or just the 5, 10, 15?
Does the 600 only use 5,10,15 in multi or does it also use the 20 and 40 but they are just not available as single frequency.

They both use all 5 frequencies in multi IQ but the 600 can only use the 5/10/15 in single frequency while the 800 can use any of the 5 frequencies in single.

Yes, the way basstrackerman explained it is the way I understand it, too. I am NOT sure that all five frequencies are used when in Multi-Freq. in ALL modes (on EITHER machine) -- in other words, I don't know if the 40 kHz freq. is being utilized as one of the frequencies in "Field 2 multi" mode, for example, or if it is some combination of only 3 or 4 of the available frequencies (say perhaps 10, 15, and 20 in that case, for example). BUT, whatever the case, Minelab has indicated that the multi-freq option for any of the modes on EITHER machine run the same way, utilizing the same frequencies...

In park 1 and field 1 mode the way I understand is all 5 frequencies are used but more power is put into lower frequencies for high conductors and less sensitivity to low conductors. Park 2 field 2 all 5 frequencies used but more power to the higher frequencies for low conductors. I get much better air tests on gold in both 2 modes. And slightly better on silver in both 1 modes

Go to and read all 4 parts

It tells about frequencies, settings and the algorithms used in each search area selection and why.

According to Minelab's website, the statement below indicates that the Equinox is running much more then the stated frequencies.

Note that EQUINOX Series detectors also feature Multi-IQ technology which allows you to operate all available single frequencies plus more, simultaneously.

Ah yes - Minelab explains how their multifrequency systems work.

to paraphrase a speech by Winston Churchill in 1939 about Soviet Russian foreign policy...

“It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key. That key is Minelab commercial interest." (Substituted ML commercial for Russian National)
