when you go to map quest and it says from point A to point B is 5 hours is that figure acounting for high mountains where you must slow down going up hill or are they figuring the same time for the same miles anywhere in the USAGreg

They do a avg of speed limit and on that. A lot of the times are alittle longer than what it takes. I'am sure they add the fact for the hills also .
 
They probably go by the average MPH (speed limits). I did one from my house to work; 26.4 miles. Mapquest said that should take me 37 minutes. Sorry, but that is not real life.

If it took me 37 minutes to get home from work, I think I'd be wondering if I missed the rapture :)
