questions about excalibur 800

I purchased a used Minelab Excaliber 800 a couple of weeks ago. The machine seems to work great. I found a '48 dime and a sterling silver ring already. I do a lot of land hunting and wonder if anyone has advice on proper discrimination in a trashy area. Also, any other tips would be greatly appreciated. I am not new to treasure hunting, but I am new to the Excaliber 800. Thanks in advance for any help! Happy Huntintg!!!

Barnacle Bill's right: There's a few users over there.

But just whilst you're on the subject, I went to the store to buy an Excalibur 1000 and walked out with the X-Terra 70. This was specifically because the weight was so great on the Excalibur (it has to be neutrally buoyant in the water) and it's front heavy (again, designed for underwater use). Since you like to hunt on land, you're going to find that the Excalibur models are not the detector you need for your hobby. This was designed for complete immersion under water by scuba and snorkel users. People who hunt beaches will use a lighter detector like the X-Terra series, to make all day hunting easier. An environmental cover plus a waterproof coil makes it idea for land and beach use.

Go for the Excalibur if you want to take it Underwater rather than just use it on the shoreline.
