Questions about batteries? What do the pro's run?

Alkaline or rechargeables?

Now days we can get rechargeables up 2000-2500 mAh. Are they as good as the alkaline?

Is there an actual difference that you can measure in Voltages?

Thanks Great Board!

I believe it all goes back to how much time do you detect. I personally will run anywhere from 30-40hrs a week during the Spring, Summer and early Fall months. When running that many hours it only makes sense to run rechargeables. I like the Ray-O-Vac rechargeables regardless of type (9v, AA, AAA, C, or D's). I have had great success with them with no noticeable difference in unti performance. I know the R-O-V's will give me at a minimum 1000+hrs of use so they pay for themselves readily. Would also recommend you buy a multiple type charger thus you can charge any combinations of batteries at once. I use not only the R-O-V batteries but also a R-O-V charger. If detecting less than 10hrs a month would make sense to buy the alkalines that are on sale. Always try and go with a quality brand.

I added a link that I use when buying batteries. Good prices, good products and reliable service. http://www.thomas-distributing.com/index.htm

I'm with you Pineapple...I detect the other half of my life time during the spring and fall...During summer...It's early morning, and late evening or night! I bought a lot of rechargables because of wireless headphones, and lots of detecting time. Flashlights etc....it does add up.
But that one good find makes it all worth while doesn't it!

Let's get digging!

In this picture I'm taking a picture of a cache mother load mommie found while detecting an abandoned house.
