How many of you noise cancel befor you detect your site. Should it be done first.
Thanks

I think you misunderstand only to be used if you have interference. I live in N.E. Pa. and run mine at high sensitivity and my unit is quiet as can be. Maybe wrong but thats my take on noise cancel....

Noise Cancel Everytime they start and every so often after that because the ground can change in a matter of a few feet.I don't very often like I should,I leave mine on channel 5 which is the deepest channel,11 is the next deepest.I will hunt someplace and it will be real noisy with channel 5 and hit noise cancel and it will quiet down.I really, really need to start doing it every time I hunt.
Also,If you hunt with other Explorer users, you must noise cancel so you don't cross-talk with them.

How do you know which channel it is on I hit noise cansel it sounds off 11 times

Thanks Ric. I did do that when I was hunting the explorer was real noisy and I hit noise cancel and it was better. Thats why I asked was wondering how off you should do this if you needed too.

Because there is a Manual setting option, and you can choose the channel, by number, that you desire.

I read this here on Nov. 21 at 7:45......"I was told by Minelab rep the following. When using noise cancel the number of frequencies being transmitted is as follows: ch-1 20, ch-2 18, ch-3 14, ch-4 14, ch-5 14, ch-6 16, ch-7 20 ch-8 20, ch-9 20,ch-10 17 and ch-11,14. The XS never transmits more than 20 frequencies at 1 time".. HH Ken

I was told it should be done each time you start a new area. That way your machine is tuned for that area.

I dont use it every time, most times the default of 5 works fine.. If I start hearing what I think is outside interference I will do it, as well as before starting a hunt with another hunter.. tell them to turn on there machine and stay still while you hold the explorer still about 4 feet away and dont move till its cycled through the 11 channels and made its choice, this will allow for quieter hunting for both of you.. be aware the explorer may not galse at all near other machines, but their machine will go nuts, I also believe that even if you can not hear interference from another machine you are affecting the performance of both when hunting too close.. If you are checking another persons target for comparisons the other machine should be turned off. One thing for sure is even if your hunting by yourself it sure doesnt hurt to do a noise cancel.. its a matter of remembering to do it <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)"> But if you dont it isnt going to change things dramaticaly as long as your running smooth
