Question

All I can say is this: I've got several Tesoros including the Tejon, and haven't had EMI issues (that I know) of with any of them. Two years ago I bought a Teknetics Eurotek Pro because I had an itch for TID, and I tried it exactly ONCE in my then-favorite park, which has power lines on two sides of it, and ended up giving it to my brother because it couldn't handle the EMI.

Sorry that I can't give you any more specific info than that...

I guess it all depends on your own threshold of noise...

I'm lucky enough to own the hottest Tejon I've ever seen, and admittedly it's a little 'twitchier' than the epsilon series...
...but I certainly don't find it objectionable.

I can run it pretty hot...almost full open...in some pretty noisy (emi wise) areas.

I suspect, though, that noise handling is just as machine specific as depth capabilities of individual units.

mike

The only EMI issue I have had with my Tejon was from an underground pet containment system. I've had no issues at all near power lines, cell towers, and even hunted within 1/2 mile of Cleveland Hopkins Airport without issues.

That reminds me - I hunted along a runway once, with, I think, the Vaquero, and while I didn't notice anything in silent-search/discriminate mode, I could just barely hear some RFI/EMI when in all-metal mode. I finally realized it was from the runway and taxiway lights, which use high voltage. It didn't cause me any problems that I could notice, but I did want to mention that it was possible to hear a bit of hum in the background in all-metal mode. And I was almost right on top of the buried HV lines, so this isn't surprising.
