A few times I've been getting big item readings and finding nothing does there suppose to be something here? Because,I haven't found a thing down 12" ,and I'm using a 5.3 coil. The first time I got this reading I thought I was rich ,and on to something big.

Depending on the size of the target, you can detect large items 2 or 3 feet deep. Experiment with the side of your car and turn the coil as if the car was directly below the coil and you will find it can detect it several feet away. Its rare to find targets in the ground that large but I have dug some of those big targets before and end up finding 1 gallon paint cans, wagon wheels, sheet of metal roofing, ect. If your finding these types of targets frequently it may be another issue but its likely just large trash. When you find metal roofing in the ground, there is likely more of it in the same area. Sometimes these areas are next to impossible to detect unless you dig out all of the metal roofing which would be very intrusive if its a maintained lawn.

When I get a signal like that and it's extremely deep, I say to myself, "It must be a Studebaker down there". HH, Nancy

a studebaker nancy I wish i had that much energy to dig that far. wouldn't be nice to pull out classic cars

 Sure would be. I don't have that much energy either. Sometimes I feel there's an awful lot of Studebakers down there. HH, Nancy
