I have seen on the forums that most CZs seem to be pretty good at finding silver, as my experience has been, but there are few gold finds with it. Is this the norm? I have yet to find gold with mine but have found lots of deep silver.

I have found gold with my CZ but you have to dig those midtones, especially the one that jump around. I get excited when i get a pull tab midtone that jumps to foil, quit often will be a good target. High tone nickel is 99% of the time a pull tab. I don't dig those unless it's 6" or more, or I'm at an old site. Learn those midtones, it's were the treasure hides.

works for me anyway.

Happy hunting

Watch that foil area as thats where at least 1/3 of your gold rings are..From using many units over the years as good on nickles and gold rings as any on the market.Matter of fact found a late 1800's 14 kt. party ring with 16 diamonds so investigate and you will find..Of course beaches and shallow water hunting increases your chances so is an option.

All but one of the 14K and 18k rings my wife has detect as foil. One bigger one comes in as old style tab as does my 18K band. CZ will find them. Just need to dig the trash too.

Set up in discrim setting 0 ( yes, you will hear the low iron tone) and dig ALL mid tones. You will dig lots of trash, but if there is gold, the CZ will find it.

I have found that over the years, the best way for me to hunt with my CZ's in discrim mode, is with the 0 setting. There have been several low/mid tone bounces I ended up digging that were gold rings or pendants deep. I think a lot of times the detector can be fooled on the deepies and register some deeper gold targets as iron or with an iron/foil-tab ( low/mid tone) hit. If you have your discrimination set at 1 or higher, the low tone will not be heard, and sometimes the low/mid won't register or you only get a mid tone hit one way on the sweep.

Gotta dig the mid tones and lots of the deep low/mid tone hits.

And you HAVE to dig trash to get the gold.
