Anybody ever take apart thier xs computer and have a problem once you put it back together. I tried to take mine apart to make it smaller to fit in a case, so I could travel on a plane. It seems to have problem starting properly you have to take ther battery out and put it in for it to work properly. Thanks for any response. Ill proably have to send it to neveda.

Hello, Just read this on the explorer user forum. Sounds like his booted back and is ok. Yours will work but the battery has to be taken out every time?
"well ya-all alot has happened from the time I wrote my last message, the hole reason for me getting the XS, was cause of all the hype, well I was getting very discuraged over the so called miracle machine. well I kinda finallybroke down and called the dealer I bought it from, to see if it was the unit or me, (ya know it's kinda like asking for directions , we men just don't do that), any way it was the machine the tech. said a few of them for some reason get shipped like this one, something to do with the prossesor being tripped. he told me what to do to reset the prossesor and wa-la, went out into my yard and just falling off the porch i nabbed a dime and a couple of pennies, about 4 inches, really strong hits, oh, ya, and a tent stake about 6 inches down, i Guess now it's time to have fun.
If anyone cares to know the remidy, he told me to open the battery door, turn the unit on, directly after the boot tones, I believe 6 tones, Pull the battery out. this will reset the prossesor. I hope some one else can use this info if they experience simular problem.
thanks for the responds, good luck ya-all."

Thanks for the response. The problem is the machine will not turn on unless you place the battery in it. Actually the machine turns on, all by itself , when you place the battery in the holder. When I try to turn the machine off, I get low tones and the machine says battery to flat for reliable operation. This is strange because I just charged the battery and the battery indicator says full. Once the machine is on it works fine. Maybe the leads to the start button are messed up. Any techs out there thanks.

Sounds like your battery isnt making good contact, try cleaning off the ends, shile a light down the battery compartment and see if one of the contact springs is bent over.. then make sure you seat your battery good and the clip is seated in place.. I have one battery pack that does what your saying, I have to reeat it two or three times

But it might not just be contact and the pack itself. Happened to me before. I could hunt for a few hours somedays then out of no where the detector would go nuts. Falsing like crazy and nothing would fix it. I charged another pack and it worked and I have never looked back. This problem went way farther then I care to explain but in the end it was the pack. Also, make sure all your pins have contact. Some seem to want to pull apart when you put the boards back together.

I had a similar problem, esp making the "low batt" low tone, Minelab ended up changing the whole display on the front under warranty & its better than new, also another person had probs with unit turning itself on by itself, this also was a fault & was fixed under warranty
