Question - Years of Production for CZ5

Batch

New member
Hello all,

I have been a fan of the CZ5 since I bought a used one back in '99 (I think). I was a silly, silly man and sold it 4-5 years later though. I am just curious, what were the years of production? I know it was introduced in '93 but when did production end? Were there any significant production run changes....particularly electronic/functional?

Many thanks for any information y'all can provide.

Happy hunting to all and to all a good night...

They still produce the CZ-3D which is based on the CZ-5 (they took the CZ-5 back to the drawing board)
The CZ's started their life under Fisher of Los Benos (I may not have spelled that right)
Then in more resent times the old Fisher was bought, sold to First Texas.
First Texas dropped some models from the old company in order to turn it into a profitable company again.
The CZ-3D was the only CZ model that First Texas kept in production, even though there were later models of the CZ than the CZ-5.

Now, due to powers that be some things cannot be said (stated) publicly on this forum, but for some reason the CZ-3D's of the old Fisher are more sought after (in the used market) than the used ones that were manufactured by First Texas.

You could probably do an Internet search for the history of the Fisher CZ-3D and find more answers to you questions about production changes in that model.

Well the CZ-5 had an analog meter,

Then the CZ-6,
CZ-7
CZ-7A Pro,
and lastly the CZ-70 all had digital displays.

I believe along here fisher redesigned the CZ-5 and released the CZ-3D

When the CZ-70 ended to models wearing the same CZ control boxes sprung up, it looked like they ended one line and started two new lines of detectors, those were the,
Fisher Gold Strike and the,
Fisher CoinStrike. (I own two of these)
Neither of the later did very well for the First Texas and was dropped from production, leaving the CZ-3D.

I have one of the Fisher product catalogs, although its not really dated it has some references to future dates for certain product availability and that date was December 2002. So, I figure that the catalog is either late 2001 or early 2002??

Anyway the CZ models (or models like) listed in the catalog are,
The New Coin$trike,
CZ-70 Pro,
CZ-5,
Gold Strike,

Hello again...

From what I gather then, when the CZ3D was introduced the CZ5 was discontinued...I think that was 2003 or 2004. Thank you for all the helpful info!

Happy hunting,
