Question...which detector?

I am traveling to Alaska this week to do some fishing and I would also like to do some detecting. We are staying on an old 4 acre homestead site and I plan on doing some land hunting as well as looking for some gold nuggets along shore. I have an Etrac and a Garrett AT Pro and am trying to decide which one to take. I know my Etrac would do well on land but would I be better with the Garrett AT Pro for finding nuggets or will the Etrac pick those up as well? Any suggestions? Thanks!

at pro would be better for nuggets imho :detecting:

I have never used an E-trac, but have only heard that it is an exceptional machine once mastered, have never hunted for gold nuggets. Have found gold rings with the Pro, so maybe it will find nuggets? but it is waterproof, so rain or the water by the shore won't hurt it. Good luck, let us know how you do, (I'm jealous). Artie

The Etrac is an excellent detector for sure. Not a great nugget hunter. I think it would have trouble finding the small stuff. If it were me I would take my ATpro with the 5x8. Hope you have a great time and find some gold. Good luck, Joe.

[size=large]From all the vids I've watched i have come to the conclusion the E-trac is no gold nugget hunter. the minelab hunters are their PI machines. Maybe the xterra 705 series.in VLF machines. The ATGold is advertised for prospecting although the 15 khz isn't up there with real gold hunting machines. but you did say you were only choosing between the ML & Garrett. Don't forget netting. and i too am jealous.you really enjoy your trip. wish you all the best.

The AT-Pro without any doubt is the better machine to take for nugget hunting. The AT-Gold would be perfect for the job, but the AT-Pro it pretty decent on tiny gold. I had a CTX-3030 and it was blind to small gold.
