Question: Underwater lights?

Flyguy

New member
Anybody got a recommendation for an underwater light for depths of 10'-15'? I would think a headlight would leave your hands free for detector and digging tool. Google this subject and you get 10-15 watt lights for up to $900.00! Wow! There are lots of handheld lights for much less - but what really works? At 10' the water is not pitch black but in murk or dark day a light might help. Anybody got some experience/ opinion on this?
Thanks,
Flyguy

Hello Flyguy, I use and prefer the Princeton Tec VORTEC headlight. Makes for hands free hunting and fits comfortably right on your head. Submersible, they say to 1000', but of course, who goes there? It does not leak, when I stand on my head to fan a hole in the surf, so that is good enough for me! Should set you back round $25-$30 or so. OBTW, use the low intensity light bulb in it though, unless you have deep pockets for AAs, it is plenty bright enough, imo.

I use a Pelican Light
price is right and strong in all weather

I also have UK Underwater Kinetics, diving lights. In my head light I use a red film, keeps night vision and does not spook the wildlife (turtles in the summer). Pelicans are great too.
