After years of use my SE Pro is on its last legs, the battery springs have now broken because of rust. I shall be replacing the springs but just checking on the 3030 running methods.
I mainly detect on beaches with lots of iron, the SE will find a coin right next to the iron. Can the 3030 be set up with similar settings so it does the same thing.
It took me lots of hours to learn the SE and I would like a machine that ran in a similar way.
Thank you in advance everyone.

can the CTX find a coin next to iron? Absolutely! But why on earth would you try to make a completely new detector run like your old one? If you get a new machine, learn it as it's own thing. Trying to make it behave like something else is typically a recipe for failure.

Not trying to run a ctx like an se pro. The reason I am asking is that one of my best beaches has tons of iron on it, if it cannot do what I am asking there is no point in purchasing the detector.
This beach produces masses of good stuff including 300 coins in 3 days, I have also seen 2 guineas come off it in a day.
The photo is of one 3 hour session on this beach.

What these guys are saying,in short,is...the CTX will certainly do the job the SE has,and better. It has a faster processor,Target Trace features to help discern multiple targets, customization of the way you want certain targets to respond,etc....when I changed from the Explorer2 to the CTX I also wanted to run it like the Explorer. Well,it's not an Explorer,it's more. An analogy would be something like..."I really liked my 4 cylinder Mustang from 1986,how can I make my 2017 Roush big block Mustang run like that old one?" While they are both Mustangs made by Ford in a simIlar configuration, they are not the same thing inside. They have many similarities but I have found the CTX to be better at finding stuff without even trying to find stuff. In fact,I think if it had legs,I could just pull up to a site, let it out and follow it around to dig up what it's finding. Why? Technically speaking? I have no damn idea. If you don't try to overdrive the Sensitivity, yet keep it adjusted appropriately for the site,it just does its thing. I'm confident it will do your thing too,and once your SE is all bolted back together you'll have a great backup.

Thanks IDXMonster.
That is all I wanted to know, as I said if I cannot null out iron there is no point in purchasing the CTX.
On my best beach you could fill a lorry from the scrap iron and in some places there is sheets of rusty steel made up of hundreds of pieces of metal of all sorts.

"If you're in the UK it should be easy enough? to get a loaner for a day? Then try it before buying?
I'm not going to tell you that it will do better than your SE. (it probably is / will be BUT, you might be the only person for whom it won't do the job? I'm not going to take that risk"

Des D.
That would be a good idea to get a loan machine but it is about 200 miles to the nearest seller and I don't know anyone yet that has a ctx but I shall carry on with the SE for now.
