Question re Needle type Cz meter vs LCD screen type

I am looking to pick up another CZ in the near future and I was wondering which type would be more reliable - the needle read out meter or the LCD screen type. My guess is that the needle type is less likely to develop a problem down the road as opposed to the LCD screen readout. Has anyone ever had a problem with the LCD screen on their CZ?

Don at least two things come to mind with your question. Analog CZs sometimes suffer from the needle not being properly calibrated. This is something that can be fine tuned and adjusted. The LCD type CZ 7s and 70s shouldn't have this problem. However a friend of mine called Fisher and was told that parts for the electronic CZs were getting scarce. He mentioned the meter display as a part that they no longer had available. I have both kinds of CZs at this point. My CZ 1021 has been calibrated and my CZ70 has not had any problems. I hope this answers at least part of your question.

I have owned A CZ metered unit. Did not have any troubles. I have heard from some forums that the needle sticks on some of the CZ metered units for whatever reason? And it had to be sent in for repair.
There is a warranty with a newly purchased CZ, so all that is good if your warranty is in date. I do not know the exact cost to fix this problem. Maybe, someone else can chime in.
I have to say, the audio on a CZ-3D is beautiful. Really gives ALOT of info.
I own a CZ-70 and it is rugged, splashproof, backlight, and no probs with a meter--cuz there is none. They made that one pretty good. Maybe too good. ;)

I agree with you Coilfisher about that nice audio on the 3D. In fact I would just keep hunting with the tones should the meter ever crap out. I don't reference the meter most targets anyway.

Warranty or not, Fisher is very good about fixing old machines at a reasonable rate. At least that is my experience. Call and discuss repair options when you get a RA number. Don't expect a firm price before they have had a chance to look at it. If you don't care about what is not working it may not be worth pursuing, of course. If it is not worth the cost to fix sell it for parts and forget it. IMHO
