would cause only partial numbers to show on AN xTERRA 50 DISPLAY...

Ie: partial o, partial 6 ,partial 4 some parts missing on the display..Would cold cause it ???

I have seen that happen on the DFX Elton....don't know if that is your problem though. Does it work OK when warmed back up?

Cold, dropped unit, defective connector between LCD and driver PCB. But the first thing I would check is changing out to a complete new set of batteries. I have used the Terras down to around +15deg F with the only noted effect being a slightly slower response in the display, which is par for the course with LCD's. For cold weather tectin' one of the tricks I use with any detector is to keep a set of swap out batteries in a warm pocket. Then about every half hour or so I swap sets, I just might patent this "pocket warmer for batteries". If you suspect a bad connection between the LCD and driver PCB, a "slight" amount of finger pressure around the display may cause the missing segment to re-appear.

thanks Bill

Do not know yet Larry..It just came off the UPS truck and when I fired it up i noticed all the number wasn't being displayed.....this happened on several numbers.Others work fine and the unit works fine except that......You know what the numbers are, you just do not see all of it little segements are missing. I thought i would let it warm up over night and check it again tomorrow..

Maybe you should call the dealer,if it just got off the truck they might swap it out.Or call Minelab @ 1-866-517-2066.

Minelab has exellant CS,they are fantastic people and try their best to keep customers happy.

Hey Elton just for the sake of doing it. Have you swapped out the batts? Try that and see what happens. LCD sometimes can be strange. If that fails call the dealer, Beale.

That is a bummer as I detect in some extreme cold and have no problems with the display. Is there some kind of hard reset for the XTs? HH, Mike

I had the same problem with my X-Terra 50. Called Sandy Burton at Minelab and she told me to send it in for repair. They had to replace the PC Board, decal front panel and they checked the operation out. If I remember right, I think it was 2 weeks or less and I had my detector back. Sandy is a great person and Minelab is a excellent company!
