question on X-1

I picked up my new EX II on Monday. Today I ordered a Sunray X-1 based on a lot of your recommendations. It should be shipped on Monday. My questions are: (1) Is the upper shaft notched in some way to accomodate the cable. (2) Is there a new cable from the upper connector to the lower shaft? (3) Is there any problem with the joint between upper and lower shaft getting loose? Any other hints on use will be appreciated.
Thanks.

When I got my X-1, I got it from David at Dixie detectors. I got the upper shaft also with the X-1 control box already attached to it. I think you will have to do some drilling to attach the little switch to the upper shaft. There should be a cable come with your X-1 that goes into the connector at the top, and that cable will be inside of the upper shaft Your cable from your coil goes into the little switch box but will not be inside of the lower shaft. I have had no problems with either shaft becoming loose..

Tom,
All X-1 Probes are pre-installed on an Explorer upper shaft. There are no kits to put together and none available to put together for the X-1. All you have to do is install it on your Explorer and enjoy using it! Good Luck!

The switch box has a permanent cable that attaches to the control box, the coil cable will now have to run out side the lower rod to attach to the switchbox istead of inside the upper rod.. you will understand how to hook it up when you see it...
