QUESTION ON WHICH DETECTOR TO KEEP

coinscratcher

New member
I HAVE A SOVEREIGN GT AND I GOT A GOOD DEAL ON A WHITES ALL PRO METAL DETECTOR 2 MONTHS OLD I WISH I COULD KEEP BOTH DETECTOR BUT I CAN'T WHICH ONE WOULD BE GOOD TO KEEP. THANK YOU. ALL HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED.

Probably not a fair question for either forum.I have used MXTs and have found them to be one of my favorite Whites, but they just don't have the depth or performance of a Sovereign. The Sovereign does have a good resale value but for me that would be like selling my saddle.Good Luck Ron

This depends on what type of hunting you are doing. If you are looking to clad hunt you want to get as much as possible in the time you are out, then the Whites is the one you want as it is faster and like Ron says I also have a MXT and it is a fun detector to use and easy too.
Now if you are looking for the deeper and older coins or relics and not so much getting quantity and more quality the Sovereign is the one I would recommend when you get to know it as anyone that knows their Sovereigns will tell you that it has impressed them many times with what it can do. I have used a lot of different detectors in my 42 years of detecting and the Sovereign is probably the one that has impressed me the most, but it didn't when I first got it as many will tell you they had doubt when they first got it was different and those that got to know it probably still has one.

Depends on soil as well...multi freq handles it better. Single freq is a bit better on smaller targers. No contest thou on a beach.... sov is king there. Lot of equipment for the sov...but it isnt being made any longer. Coils will work on an Xcal as well.

I do not know anything about the White but once I started to learn what the Sovereign GT was telling me and started to find those very elusive silver coins and those wheat pennies that just whispered due to the depth I purchased a second Sovereign GT to have just in case I live long enough to wear out the first one.
