Question on Warranties!!!

Have been thinking of purchasing a Tiger Shark for use in the lakes and beach. Tesoro site says only the original owner is warrantied for life. Is this true?? If it is, anybody know the going rate for repairs when you don't have a warranty?? If I buy used, I need to consider what a repair might run......might be best just to buy new and get the warranty!! Opinions???
 
It depends upon the job completed. I replace the control box for a Bandito, and it cost $25. But if you were replacing a circuit board, it would probably be different. With Tesoro, check ups are usually free...you just have to pay to get it there. I've had a couple detectors checked out and they have done it for nothing. I even had a bad 8" donut and they replaced it(although I certainly woulnt expect that treatment for every instance).
