QUESTION ON THRESHOLD FOR YOU PROS!

I know that the optimum preference for threshold is "slightly audible". I notice that the threshold "hum" disappears at a setting of "6". When I use my headphones, the setting of "7" is, in my opinion, still quite loud. Since the optimum setting for threshold is "slightly audible", is there any way to decrease the threshold hum without it disappearing altogether when selecting the setting of "6"? Or, is this the default factory setting, and therefore the best? Or, is it that my hearing is just too good or too bad that I cannot hear anything at "6"? I haven't seen any info regarding this in the Explorer handbook or Sabisch's book. Any input from you experienced Explorer users would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! ~Larry~

Larry,
That is one of the things they changed on the new Explorer XS II. On the XS 6 is too low and 7 is louder than many want it and there is realy noting you can do. On the XS II you have more adjustment of the threshold and I beleive there is 32 differnt adjustments so you can find the one that works right for you. On the XS I had to go to 8 as I am very hard of hearing as 7 was too low.

Yes, you are right.. the only thing you can do is to leave it at 7 and turn down the headphone volume a bit... if your worried about losing the deep targets with a lower volume turn the gain up.. or get an EX II <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)">
