Question on the X1 Probe

Member
I got the X1 probe on my Ex II but should it have some type of rubber cover over the tip?
Can I buy something at the hardware store or someplace?

Thanks,
Lambo

I don't have a tip on mine, and it has lasted thousands of probings. I bet if you called Ralph at Sunray up, he'd probably send you one if you wanted. It's not a big deal. There's other parts of the probe that will wear out much faster than the probe tip. The probe wire going into the probe is a weak spot....be careful not to yank the probe wire or your probe will eventually start to make falsing noises, signaling it will need to be repaired.

Good luck!

Thanks Captn SE. My probe tip is missinng some of the black edge so trying to protect it as much as possible.

The BEST thing i found was one of those rubber chair protectors that goes on a chair leg. You loose no noticeable depth. Mind didnt have one... but when Ralph replaced it with a new version it came with a red one. Ive given several of those chair protectors out to friends and they work great. Try it you will like it.

I had a old pocket probe and the tip was really wearing down from all the probing so I got some two part epoxe, mixed up a little bit in a cup and just dipped the end of my probe in it. It was hard as nails and shows hardly any wear at all, but now I use my X-1 probe pretty much all the time. Good luck on whatever you decide to do. HH.
