Question on the Sovereign 180 Meter Mod

Where would be the best place to purchase the VR1, 1K Ohm 10% linear taper potentiometer that replaces the older one (10K) I haven't checked with Radio shack yet but if they don't have it who else would have this item? Is it real important that this gets changed out with doing the 180 meter mod?

Well I just came back from Radio shack and they don't carry the parts for what I need to do this project. Does anyone know where I can get the parts to do this mod? thanks

I'm not sure if these are still available, but this site was offering kits to convert the meters.

The pot is an Alpha brand. I Googled it and found some on ebay when I modified mine. I have a friend in the home surveillance industry and he had the resistors on hand. Check around with some of your local electronics business for them Radio Shack had none of here in my local either.

I should be all set I went to the internet and found this website. http://www.futurlec.com/index.shtml They have everything you need to do the job. The total price for everything was $4.95 shipped, (not bad) Once the package comes in and I do the mod I will post my findings, thanks everyone.

I got 10 sets coming to do the mod as every once in a while I get someone looking to have it done. It is not a hard mod to do, but got to remember to used the right resistor depending on which version of the meter you have. The other thing is to make sure you adjust the coarse calibration as said in the instructions.
