Question on the e-track

Johnny

New member
I'm thinking about getting a e-track. I have a SE now with a x5 coil and I can put a washer down next to a quarter ( 1" apart) and the SE nulls and will not hit he quarter. Does the e-tack do this all so???? I need to know before I get one, bucause I hunt trashy places with iron there. Thanks

Johnny, is that true if you walk around the quarter and try from different angles? or if you lift the loop(coil) up a little , say 6 inches or higher? I dont have an E trac but am watching posts like this one to see if I will. One more thng... How big is the washer?

Here are some tests I did a few minutes ago and got strong signals up to 9" with good ID numbers and tones. I was in stock coin program with deep, fast and trash on.Man. sen. maxed and 4 tones.most targets did well from all swing directions. Also did well with fast swing compared to slow swing.
These are very old rusty cut nails that I found with my Explorer. All I had was new washers and I could get the quarter with them on or placed all around it but they are not the same as old rusty ones .
If you are wanting seperation in heavy trash the Etrac is the best Machine by far that I have ever used and I have used quite a few and own several that are gathering dust,Ray.
PS the second or top middle picture is the only one I could not quite get from all angles but close. And test was under a lot of flurecent lights in my shop.

I have an SE pro, that I am running in "factory settings" mode with the stock pro coil, and I can get a dime hit pretty close to a rusty nail even like that, IF I go slow. If I whip that coil around, it will null and I hear nothing but if I go slow, I get the dime without using any settings or other tricks at all.

I'm thinking maybe you are swinging too fast? It is possible that the pro coil does a better job with separation too.

I think it would be true about the difference angles because of the coin is not all was flat and don't know about lifting the coil( deep coin you would lose depth). The size of the washer was the size of the quarter. I have a friend that has a e-track and I called him and he tried what I did and the same thing happened. No matter how slow you go.

Using Sunray X-5 coil in all tests.
Snowed today and I am bored as you all can tell, Ray.

you separate the nail and the QTR?

Put a non-conductive item between the nail and the Qtr as if the nail was 1" above the Qtr but not touching it. Sometimes when they touch they will average and still produce a signal (although sometime much lower than what the normal Qtr signal is)

Thanks

Ron

Ray-Mo., thank you for your interesting post and pictures. Your post got me wondering how well would the SE, or the
SE Pro have responded under the same conditions (test). (I have an SE, but it's up North at the present and I'm not going
up there till the weather breaks). Have you tried this test with the SE/SE Pro? Would they have null-ed out and not re-
covered in time to signaled a good target? Any and all insight to this post would be greatly received. (I thought about the
E-Trac, but the expense at this time is hard to justify - especially with my SE only being several yrs. old.)
Thank you and all who respond in advance -- MackieG
