Question on the detector pro uni probe?

I have been reading about the detector pro uni probe but all I find is the tech suff. I need to know if any one has any hands on with this, Is it a good all around probe, Or is it just to much detector? Any help please.

Have been using them for a couple of years not sure what you mean by to much detector. The headset unit that you use with your detector is second to none for depth. I also have the pocket probe but prefer the headset version. The only weak link is that there is no stress relief on the cable. Dan

The way it is described is it is a detector, so I thought maybe the company was focousing more on it being a detector. I need to be able to use it as a probe. So I wondered if the probe funtion took the back seat and was of low quality. I like the idea of having the headset and flip a switch to pin point.

It is a true pinpointer and will pick off any target once you find it with your coil I would say 3-4 inches deep its very convenient a 9 volt battery which is located on the non switch side lasts about maybe 15 hours and you know when its dead because the pinpointer will start acting weird so I always carry a spare. Dan

The pocket version works for me. I wouldn't drop it in any water. Other than that - its sensitive with depth for a pinpointer.

The hand held uni probe is not worth the price, I went to Kellyco and had one in my hand and the testing range is only a couple of inches.

Now the head set version i can not give a answer, but for the price there going for you , any of the other pointers work just as good if not deeper,

That's from me testing it and i own the Vibra probe 570 and the auto max v4 And that one bounty hunter sell"s that the battery cover fall's off.

I have one of the Uniprobes that is the headset ones and it is AWESOME as it has great depth and comes with a high quailty headphones too for a little more than what the hand held one cost. I think it is around $30 more and well worth it plus I don't know if you know a coil and a shaft can be added so you can use it as a detector too.
I like my Sun Ray probes if one is made for the detector i want to keep, but some of the detectors I try out and Field test I use my UniProbe as it will work with them all. Another nice feature is the cord for the headphones that goes to the detector is replaceable, so if you get a bad connection or break a cord you can put on a new one. I keep a extra replaceable cord in case, but haven't had to use it in the 3 years i have had mine.
The things I don't like about the one I have and has been changed on the new ones is mine I bump the switch and turns on and I don't know it until I go to use it and the battery is dead. The new ones they made the switch so instead of going up and down it goes front to back which also helps to know which toggle to switch when when you want to turn on the probe and which one for stereo and mono switch. Another thing is the extra cord for the probe as it will tangle with the ones for the detector at times, but not a real big problem.
Expensive, yes!! but it is actually a detector built into a great set of high quality headphones, so for the money is is reasonable for what it can do. If mine got lost or stolen I wouldn't have second thought and have a new one on its way the same day.
I sent mine in last fall as I developed a short in the lead for the probe and had it check out while there and got it back no charge for the repair, so I am ready to go when the snow melts.

I agree with your comments Rick I have 3 headsets and a pocket unit plus a spare probe that I bought after a short. The lack of stress relief on the probe cable is my only complaint. Dan
