Question on the AT pro

New member
What are the good points & bad points things about the At pro. I'm thinking about getting one to coin hunt with the 6.5x9" concentric coil on land mostly ????

1) It has the standard mode, similar to an ACE 250 and is great for beginners, coin & jewellery hunting yet is deep and sensitive to gold.

2) It has the PRO mode, which is one of the deepest metal detectors (single frequency) available today. It was designed to find deep relics, yet with the 15kHz operating frequency, remains very sensitive to gold targets.

3) It is also water proof to 10 feet, so a quick accidental drop in the water or sudden rain will still keep you in the game. And, as a water machine, opens up a new style of detecting and territory in case you were ever interested without buying another water machine.

4) It's made in USA and costs less then half the price of some of the most expensive single frequency metal detectors which are restricted to land hunting only on non-rainy days.

Bad Points? Beats me?

Hi John, I put over 180 hours on the ATpro with the 6.5x9 concentric coil. great for coin shooting!! I just put the stock coil on the ATpro. I plan on doing more relic hunting then coin hunting this season. If I decide to just go out coin hunting I'll put the 6.5x9 back on. I really like that coil for parks, sports fields etc. The stock coil may be just as good for hunting these areas but the 6.5x9 is my coin coil. there are a couple other coils worth looking at for the Atpro and they all may be great for coin hunting. as far as problems or negatives on the ATpro? If I was forced to complain about something ,it would be the lack of a back light If I had that on the ATpro I could hunt all night!!!!:detecting:

I here you on lack of backlight. So I bought a VX3. For me AT-Pro screen is hard to see in daylight and it is noseheavy with most coils. But other than that there's little to complain about.

Well where I live I don't think you would like to hunt at night. You just may no make it home that night. So bad people here. You do go just to go in the day time . All so thinking about the 5x8" coil.

I have not used the 5x8 but I sure am hearing a lot of good things about it.
