I went camping last week and while waiting on the gang to show up, I took out my 2500 to try my luck on maybe picking up on something interesting.
A work associate came by and was very interested in the machine, especially its ID functions. I commented that I was new to it and so I didn't rely on them yet.
He took my digger and made 3 little holes and put some objects in them and then asked if I could Identify them.
The first hole registered a 3 (I hunt zero mode) I told him this was probably junk or a piece of foil. I wasn't sure but I probably would dig it. The next hole hit a 6 which I identified as a pulltab or a penny. The next hit a 4 which I Identified as a pulltab or a nickel.
Holes two and three I was pretty much on target as they were a penny and a nickel.
Hole number 1 turned out to be his 14 carat gold ring with a cluster of large diamonds. It also registered as a C item. I sure screwed that one up....or did I? After he removed his ring there was a piece of foil about 3 inches from the ring spot. I was using the 12 inch coil.
The soil mineralization was extremely high as the few pennies I found before quitting were burned so badly they were hardly recognizable.
I apologize for being so long winded, but shouldn't the ring had registered as a B item and higher than a 3 while in pinpoint mode.??? I haven't a clue what I did wrong
The ring hit a 5 and a B when I air tested it after the fact!
