Question on Tesoro coils/lower rods

Neil

Well-known member
Im looking at buying a new cleansweep for a Cutlass umax, thats an epsilon coil and on the website they are listed as LITE, they dont list any others. I believe there are two versions, one being quite a bit heavier than the other. Question is are they all the lite versions now?

Also on the lower rods, some of them are really tight fitting, anyone found a cure for this? I was sanding them and that helped a little but does anyone have another way to make them slide easier?

All the new ones are the 'lite' version. Maybe some type lube with help.

I broke a coil ear, lesson learned, next time order coil and lower rod from a dealer that will take the time to insure a trouble free install.

Any time I get a new coil I get an extra lower rod. I use dish soap to help it slid on. Only a tiny bie. You want that coil to be snug on the rod. I never sand it, Just work it on slowly. You will get it. Like I said,, New coil,, New lower rod for that coil. It sure saves a lot of time and trouble.. Hope that helps... KEN

Thanks for the info on the cleansweeps, good to hear they are all lighter now.

On the rod being a tight fit, I was referring to the rod itself being difficult to slide up into the middle rod on the pole. Like when your make the adjustment for pole length, some of the lower rods are super tight fitting into the middle section. Ive only seen this on tesoro lower rods and they are all not like that.

Oh I read your post wrong, oops. :) I have not had that issue, but I like the older lower pole with only on catch, as opposed to the newer style with 2.
