Question on Recharageable 9 volt for in pointer?

BigTony

Does anyone use a recharageable 9 volt battery for the pin pointer? If so which brand?

If you don't which 9 volt battery do you use?

The ones I have bought go dead when not expecting and really don't last too long.

I rarely see rechargeable 9 volts. I thought my carrot pp had gone bad but it turned out to be the battery even though it still showed around 8v.. Anyway I replaced it this spring with an energizer max.... hate to have to say this, I haven't used it outside the front yard yet. Love that orange pinpointer. I usually remove battery when not in use.

DiggingFX, I always remove my batteries no matter what device.
Thanks for the energizer max tip....get out there it is suppose to be spring.

you might try a Maha Powerex 9volt battery
they are a true 9.6 volt nimh battery, 230 mah
they are also the same overall physical size as alkalines
and can be found on Ebay

Aqua Mike, thanks for the reply.
I sent away for a four pack of EBL's with charger, about $21. That way I can use two in my smoke detectors.

I have been using rechargable 9Vs in my pinpointers for the last couple years. The ones I use are made by Tenergy. I made sure to purchase the low self discharge variety and a good charger. I keep a spare battery in the car and have never had a problem, even if the spare was charged months earlier.

Bayard, and do they work for the Garett carrot?
The ones I bought don't hold enough power.
Thanks
Tony

I re-read the instructions and it said that the batteries will not reach full 9.4 volts until two or three charges.
They are now working in the carrot and I am happy that I re-read the instructions. Too much fine print, I had to use a magnifying glass to read it.

I have the original black Garrett and a Minelab 25. Both work fine with the rechargeables.
