Question on MXT pricing

LuckyDig

New member
I saw a MXT 300 for sale with a whites bullseye II and a gps (not sure why this is included) for $600 and was wondering if this price was an acceptable price for an MXT 300. I have been wanting to join this forum for a while and they are saying this machine is in almost new condition. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Personally, I think that is high. For a little more you can get the MXT pro with all of the updates and it comes with the 300 coil. The MXT 300 is a good detector, but I would think more in the $500 range if you wanted to go that route. The GPS, well all depends what it is and do you need it. Good luck

I appreciate the input on this, I think I guess I will have to wait a bit longer and get the MXT Pro. :wiggle:

A good alternative to the 300 or Pro would be the regular MXT with the 950 coil. I think the 300 (12") is too large for general hunting, but great for covering large areas with low trash like beach hunting. If you could get the 300 for $500 that would be a good deal as well........ and the GPS........... well, if you need one. The pinpointer is also a nice addition, usually available (used) for 40-50 bucks.

Hey LuckyDig,
I would try to pick up a regular MXT as Larry said. It is the same machine as the 300 and you won't be paying for a coil you probably won't be using much (the 12") Also, try and just pick up the machine without the bullseye pinpointer packaged in. Save the $ and, if you need a PP, put the cash towards a Garrett pro pointer, a much more capable PP and a better investment. Lastly, if you have a little more money, as has been said, I'd go for the MXT Pro. Same machine but has added features that, if you need them, will be a welcome addition. JMHO good luck.

I really appreciate all the good info, I think I have finally reached my savings goal with the help of this weekends garage sale. Looks like I get to order my NEW MXT Pro on Monday!!! I even made enough to get the 6x10 DD coil !! I am super excited and can't wait to take it out for a spin. Wish me luck!!

Good lucky and hope you find many wonderful items. You're going to love the MXT! HH, Nancy

WAS just on kellyco website and they are selling new mxtpro with 300mm large coil{which i found very heavy} and regular mxt machine with 9.5 coil for 100 bucks cheaper....not sure new features are worth getting machine with a coil not going to use much and then kicking out 200 bucks for a new coil..i havent used 300mm coil since getting smaller one....backlight is nice..but by dark im done for day..im sure there are diehards out there..but 8 hours in daylight with headphones on is plenty for this guy..

I am interested in seeing your results and your opinion on the mxt pro as i am considering this unit myself:)
Hope you have all the luck in the world and just have fun detecting:)

Don't know where you live (big city or country town) but check the Pawn shops. I've seen detectors for sale there.
I saw a regular MXT with extra coil for $275.00...it lasted about a week and someone snatched it up! I bought mine
from a grounds keeper of a major public park for $300.00. He had it abut five years and it was still in good shape.
But like already said, if you can afford a little more get the MXT new or buy the new model..
Katz.

Well I broke down and bought the new MXT Pro with the 6x10 DD Eclipse coil and still had a little money left over for gas to actually hit the parks/river/beach when it arrives. I thought since I do detect on the beach and in some rather open areas with little trash that the 12" coil might get a bit of use. I will update when I get to use it with my thoughts on it.
