Had the MXT out all weekend and it was fun and also tiring. I work really trashy areas and using the relic mode finally got to me. Its nice to know all that iron crud is out there, and I will surely use the relic mode again, but spent second half of weekend using coin mode. I figure its the MXTs job to know the iron crud is down there, not mine. So I let it do its own job.
I was using the 3x6 99% of the time. It is actually very capable of detecting deep targets with ease. The depth indicator seemed to be stretching the truth regarding depth BUT it was actually detecting as deep as it said, a refreshing feature.
Question on coils. I just bought a 5 inch coil for the mxt and I guess I should have asked first, but now is as good a time as any, 'how do you like the 5 incher?'
is it as good or better than the 3x6? I like small coils to get in and about the trash, but like depth too. The DD should be king of trash separation BUT my experience has ALWAYS been that concentric coils ID more accurately than DD types and don't seem to be bothered as badly by wire and nails either.
The stock coil was tried and taken right off. Maybe out in an open field, but not in a trashy area. PLUS, it was heavy too.
Thanks folks,
Tony
