Question On Garrett Master Sound Headsets Supplied By Garrett???

I have been using the Master Sound headsets for many many years, as Garrett often supplies them with a lot of their various metal detectors? They have always seemed to hold up well, had been water dunked with no consequences and have been repaired by myself a couple of times. Sometimes I wonder if I am missing out on some benefits of other brands. Some of the electronic stores have walls covered with different makes and models, some costing very little, while others in the hundreds of dollars.
So.........are you using your Master Sound headsets currently, or have you opted to use another brand? If so why? Were the new brands expensive? Large cuffs, small cuffs, duel volume controls? Were the other brands much better? What would you suggest?

Father's day is soon coming and my wifey wants some information.....

I used the Garrett headphones until the volume control on one side quit working. I ordered the adapter, while Garrett replaced the phones and repaired the machine.

The adapter gave me a huge number of choices as to what I can use. I ended up with a pair of ear buds that have the flexible hook that goes behind the ears. Bought a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter and a extension with an in line volume control at radio shack for under $20. Gives me plenty of cord that doesn't pull them out of my ears. They are cooler too, and allow me to hear what's going around me better.

The Garrett supplied headphones are pretty good as far as a set of headphones that come with a detector , however ,...try something like the Sunray pro golds and you move up quite a bit in tonal clarity, .. just a real difference in sound quality. Price wise about $130 from memory, duel volume control.
Sunrays and propointer were the best accessories Ive purchased

I bought my Pro in Jan, and got the pair of headphones in the picture on your thread, Fourth time out the left side speaker started working very intermittently, called up Garretts and they immediately sent out a new pair. The new pair do not have the stereo/mono switch that yours in the picture have, and my original ones did. This does not bother me at all, don't feel it would make a difference to me. I find the new pair to be very comfortable ( but summer is not here yet) and my hearing is not good so if I were to make any changes, it might be to buy/make up a wireless set of headphones. I'm sure there are better headphones for sound quality, but my thought on that is, will it help you find or differentiate targets better? Also the better headphones= more money, certainly not waterproof, but to what degree will they be water resistant? Same thought process I'm having on the wireless setup, course if I keep the stock set, in the car, I can make a quick change in the field. If the cord on the stock ones were 2 feet longer, I find them comfortable enough ( again, haven't seen their comfort in the summer yet) to not make any changes. On the other hand if you got the headphone adapter, and a nice set of headphones, you'd have a backup set, no matter which you were using. You have given me a good idea about getting the wireless ones for fathers day, thank you. If you do get a top end set of headphones, I'd be interested in hearing (no pun intended, really) your opinion on the difference. Artie

Dont like the headphones that come with the Pro the speakers are intermittent and they seem bulky and hot getting the adapter so I can use my Garrett easy stow headphones a lot more comfortable and better tone quality . Also ordered a set of Waterproof Headphones will see how they sound when I get them Just as soon as I Replace the faceplate decal on my AT Pro this weekend so I can get the streak out of the screen

I used the phones that came with my AT pro for about a year and a half. Then a friend kept bugging me to get a pair of Killer B's So I had so extra cash and a bought a pair. the dual volume ones. They cost me $110 bucks I think. WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE. They are much more comfortable. They feel lighter. They stay where you put them. The cord doesnt get twisted all to hell. And the sound is amazing. Plus they have a great warrenty. They are worth every penny IMO.
